Slugs hate coffee

Apparently slugs don’t like caffeine so I’m going to try experimenting this year.  I have a jar of fair trade coffee at home that I’m pretty sure is past it’s use by date so I’m going to make it up and take it down to water my beds before planting in them.  I’ve read on A4A that this works a treat.  I’ll also save coffee grounds from work to sprinkle around plants and around the edges.
So far I haven’t had that much trouble with slugs but that might just be because I haven’t grown much that they like!  This year I’m hoping to grow loads of tasty leaves that I definitely don’t want them getting their teeth into!
